We’re excited to announce the release of Ocean Eye’s first annual report, marking the beginning of our journey to transform marine tourism into a force for ocean conservation.
Two Years of Building Foundations in Indonesia, Our First Pilot Region
The report captures our first years of focused development and the initial implementation of our pilot in Indonesia, made possible through the invaluable support of our prime funder, the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA), through grants provided by the Government of Canada and the Sustainable Fisheries and Communities Trust (SFACT).
Highlights from the report include:
- Pilot Launch in Banda Neira – Our first pilot with EcoNusa and indigenous communities, testing our model while building trust with local partners
- Expansion Across Indonesia – Extending our reach to Bali, Raja Ampat, Alor, and Labuan Bajo (Komodo)
- First Conservation Donations – Transferring our first community and conservation fund of US$1,500 to support community-led waste management in Banda Neira
- Growing Network – Partnerships with 7 dive centres, 11 liveaboards, and 6 conservation NGOs
- Community Impact – 5 communities supported, 5,255 people reached, and 85 individuals trained
Looking Ahead to 2026-2027
Our goals include strengthening our technology with faster, more intuitive use and AI-assisted species recognition; strengthening our operations in Indonesia with real on-the-ground assistance for our project partners; expanding our reach into Europe and East Africa; and growing strategic partnerships to scale collective impact.
